Who
is Gülseren ? Simply herself. This young artist, fresh as a
rose, gave her name to her first self-produced album. Born in Istanbul and
living in Paris since the age of 7, she hates being labelled. Her choice of
songs proves this : " Sarabande " with a Haendel prelude as an
opening, shows her lyric training, " Ayrilik ", her theme tune,
accentuates the clarity of her voice " Habibi " would get the most
reluctant dancing. From classical to techno, via rock and roll, from groove to
traditional songs, this album has multiple facets, eclectic of course but also
generous and open to the world as proved in her song " Deprem " which
she composed after the earthquake which shook Turkey in 1999.
Gülseren who writes all her own lyrics, was helped by Luis Ernesto Gomez for
the arrangements. They will appear together on stage during her French tour in
September where their combined talents as percussionnists complement each other
perfectly. A chance not to be missed to witness the complicity that unites these
two performers and which will bring a smile to the audience when Luis sings to Gülseren
in the opening chorus of " Sinanay ". Her creative energy and
charisma, linked not only with the artist but also with the album has rendered Gülseren
a name that is on everyone’s lips and in everyone’s hearts.

Gülseren
at "La Guinguette Pirate"
"French
but born in Istanbul, Gülseren is a young singer with a warm and strong voice.
Her musicians mix traditional music and rock. With a classic background, she's
been mixing singing and dancing for a growing audience since her album has come
out at the beginning of this year. Even, she's played her own character in a
dutch-turkish film, "Roos and Rana". Today, her career is going on
with "Sev Beni". If you miss her tonight, 8 pm, at "La Guinguette
Pirate", you can make up for it watching a special coverage about Gülseren
on France 2 and La Cinquième, next september."
